The Apple Watch Ultra 2, introduced in September 2024, is designed for adventurers and athletes. It features a rugged design, advanced health and fitness tracking, and enhanced connectivity. The 49mm case size is a defining characteristic of the Ultra series.
Display
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is available in a 49mm titanium case, offering durability and a premium feel. The black titanium finish is achieved through a custom blasting process and a diamond-like carbon physical vapor deposition coating, making it scratch-resistant. The back crystal is made from a matching dark zirconia. The watch has a depth of 14.4mm. The weight varies slightly depending on the band, with the natural titanium version weighing 61.4 grams and the black titanium version weighing 61.8 grams.
Band: Titanium Milanese Loop
The Ultra 2 boasts an Always-On Retina LTPO OLED display with a flat sapphire crystal. The display is exceptionally bright, reaching a maximum brightness of 3000 nits, making it easily visible in direct sunlight. It also has a minimum brightness of 1 nit for comfortable viewing in dark environments. The display area is 1185 sq mm.
Key Features and Functionality
The Titanium Milanese Loop is a notable band option for the Apple Watch Ultra 2. It’s the first metal band designed specifically for the Ultra series. The band is inspired by mesh historically used by divers. It is woven from aerospace-grade titanium, making it lightweight and corrosion-resistant. The band features a dual-button, parachute-style buckle for secure fastening, suitable for water sports. The Titanium Milanese Loop is available in both natural and black titanium finishes.

- Durability: Water resistance up to 100m under ISO standard 22810:2010, dust resistance IP6X, and EN13319 recreational scuba diving to 40m (±1m accuracy). It has also been tested to MIL-STD 810H standards.
- Connectivity: LTE and UMTS, L1+L5 Precision dual-frequency GPS, Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n), Bluetooth 5.3, and a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip.
- Battery Life: Up to 36 hours of normal use and up to 72 hours in Low Power Mode.
